Yale School of Management alumni are invited to join Anjani Jain, Acting Dean & Professor in the Practice of Management, in New Delhi for an update and discussion on the School. The reception will be held on Friday, January 12th, at Crystal Lounge within The Grand Hotel. In addition to Acting Dean Anjani Jain, attendees will have the opportunity to network with Senior Associate Dean Joel A. Getz, fellow alumni, as well as prospective Yale SOM applicants. Appetizers and drinks will be served.

Anjani Jain

Acting Dean & Professor in the Practice of Management

Dean Jain's research interests include the analysis and design of manufacturing systems, optimization algorithms, and probabilistic analysis of combinatorial problems. He has published in the professional literature on telecommunications network design and his more recent work has investigated the impact of growing product variety on the manufacture and design of families of products, especially in the automobile industry.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics from Indore University in India, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a PhD in operations research from the University of California, Los Angeles. He joined the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986 and served for 26 years before joining Yale SOM.

At Wharton he taught courses in operations management and management science at the MBA, PhD, and undergraduate levels. In 1993 he became director of Wharton’s MBA Program and was instrumental in several curricular initiatives. From 2000 to 2010 he served as vice dean and director of Wharton’s Graduate Division and from 2010 to 2012 as vice dean of Wharton’s MBA Program for Executives.

Dean Jain has won numerous teaching awards and has taught courses at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, and the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad and Mohali. He has served on the International Advisory Council of the ISB and as its co-area leader in operations management.

Joel A. Getz

Senior Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations

Joel Getz serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations. He joined the Yale School of Management in February 2008. At Yale SOM, Mr. Getz is in charge of all fundraising and alumni initiatives. He oversaw the successful completion of the $250 million Management Tomorrow campaign, much of which was devoted to raising funds for Evans Hall. Mr. Getz came to Yale SOM from the William J. Clinton Foundation in New York, where he served as Director of Development for former President William J. Clinton’s worldwide charitable, educational, and economic development initiatives. Mr. Getz was instrumental in creating a formal development operation for the Clinton Foundation, which raised in excess of $135 million annually.

Prior to his work with the Clinton Foundation, Mr. Getz was President of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, working with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, deputy mayors, and NYC agency commissioners, as well as a 50-member board of top CEOs, financiers, philanthropists and community leaders, to plan, prioritize and implement fundraising initiatives to support civic improvements in the City of New York. Upon leaving his position at the Mayor’s Fund, Mayor Bloomberg appointed Mr. Getz to the Board where he served for the remaining 8 years of Mayor Bloomberg’s term. Mr. Getz’s additional previous work experience includes university fundraising at Stanford University, where he was associate director of The Stanford Fund and then a major gifts officer, both for the university and for the Graduate School of Business. He also has an entrepreneurial bent: from 1990 to 1997 he was the President and Co-Founder of Rim Pacific, a manufacturing and distribution firm focusing on art reproductions. Joel received his B.A. in 1986 from Harvard University where he was First Marshal of his class and has served on the board of the Alumni Association.
