All Yale alumni, alumni of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), and other MBA and Ivy Plus alumni networks in Hong Kong are invited to attend a fun and lively discussion with Chin Hwee Tan '03 MBA (Yale SOM), CEO Asia Pacific, Trafigura moderated by Stephanie Cheung '03 MBA (Yale SOM), Community Head, naked HUB.

Chin Hwee, once named Best Asia Hedge Fund Manager by The Asset magazine, will be in Hong Kong and will discuss with us his experiences in hedge fund management, corporate life in one of the world's largest commodity trading companies, and the value he attaches in giving back to society through the variety of philanthropic enterprises he has been involved in. Chin Hwee started his career in 1995 at Keppel Corporation's treasury division, where he traded proprietary Asian equities and fixed income. Between 1999 and 2001, he ran the proprietary credit portfolio for DBS Bank before becoming a managing director at Amaranth Advisors. After leaving Amaranth Advisors, he joined Apollo Global Management and founded its Asian operations. He is currently the Asia-Pacific CEO of Trafigura, a multinational commodity trading company, and the world's second largest private oil trader and the world's largest metal trader, and he is the first Asian to hold this position. As of September 2017, Trafigura reported $136.4 billion of revenue, which put the firm among the top 30 largest companies in the world according to Fortune Magazine.

Tan has sat on the boards of various organisations in the public and private sectors. The positions he held past and present include: member of the Resource Panel for Government Parliamentary Committee for Finance and Trade and Industry; member of the Advisory Panel for Youth Corps Singapore; member of the Advisory Panel for the Ministry of Education; member of the Advisory Panel for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; board member of Lien Aid Limited (Singapore), the endowment fund for KK Women's and Children's Hospital;] advisory board member of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance; board member of Singapore Press Holdings; non-executive and independent director of Keppel Corporation (until June 2017); member of Nanyang Technological University's board of trustees; member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Finance Centre Advisory Panel; member of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore's International Maritime Centre (IMC) 2030 Advisory Committee; and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
